Default Get a Grip, will ya?

One thing that bugs me about my '17 SGS, aside from the fact my recall notice came today, is the OEM grips HD installs. I'm not a big guy, but my hands wrap around the OEM grips and then some. The same thing happened on my '13 FXSB. Most of the grips I see aren't much better. Harley used to offer a set of foam grips (#56006-88C) for cabled throttle bikes, but they discontinued them. I bought a set for my FXSB, and they were fine - thicker than the OEM or most aftermarket grips. I did some research and found that those foam grips were really Drag Specialties "Sundance" grips with an HD end cap that jacked up the price 110%. Also, they have a version for TBW bikes too, and replacement foam. So if you've been looking for larger grips:

Cabled version: #DS-243122 $23.95
TBW version: #0630-0591 $23.95
Replacement foam: DS-243125 $7.95

OEM Grips: 1.375" Dia. (4.32" surface)
HD "Get-A-Grips": 1.57 Dia. (4.93" surface)
DS "Sundance" Grips: 1.77" Dia. (5.56" surface)
(So with the Sundance grips you get an additional 1.24" of surface.)

The old school foam titty grips as we used to call them .

Only issue with them and I see this on the clutch side is they wear out if you ride a lot. I used to get 2 years out a set at best.

The stock grips were probably one of the first things that went bye bye. Was not a fan of the stock grips at all.

I've had the Magnum Get-A-Grips on my last two bikes. Love 'em.

Any parts place that sells Drag Specialties, or even eBay.

I've had a set on my breakout for almost 3 years now, and while the foam is a bit stiffer they're still in good shape. Besides, replacement foam is only $7.95 a set at any Drag Specialties dealer. (#DS-243125)

Hmmm...the lady riders might want to jump on this thread. Some might prefer more girth.

I've got a pretty bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome, so anything I can do to lessen vibration helps. I ordered a set of these:

https://www.markscustomdesigns.com/p...ng-grip-covers

They look a LOT better than the foam things, add some circumference, and dampen the vibration (a little).

I've been running the Kuryakyn Iso Grips on my last 4 bikes. Harley puts crappy grips on there because they want you to upgrade. The same really all the parts are not chrome all black. Think they make all their money just off selling the bikes?
