Default Road glide ultra windshield make a difference?

My new 2017 rgu should be in on Thursday. Every rgu I've test rode had real bad wind buffeting but everything I've read said changing the windshield makes all the difference. Before I go plunk down 27k on a bike, please convince me that a 70 dollar windshield improves the buffeting. I'm leaning toward the freedom shield touring model.

Default Buffeting

Well, good luck with a new 70 dollar windshield.
I had a Cee Bailey on my previous RGU and it worked great. The only buffeting I fell was with a particular helmet in the 3 digit speedo area.
My new RG special has a freedom shield on it and still have no buffeting.
The ones you test rode were with the stock windshields ? One way to loosen the change in your pocket, is to put inferior parts on a new bike so you can come back in and pay for good ones.
A freedom shield will cost you more than 70 bucks and should stop your problems.

I have a '17 FLTRX, am 6'1" w/32" inseam. A 12" Long Ride Shield got rid of the buffeting on my HD modular helmet. For much less than a hunnert bucks, I might add. Note: they recommend that the top of the shield be even with the bottom of your nose, in riding position. The stock shield on my bike was 8".

I had a long ride windshield on my RG. I had it on my 15 RG. it was around 70 bucks. thank god I had a different windshield (Harley brand) sitting in the garage that I tried first on my 15 RG. That 70 buck windshield developed a significant crack in it near the bolt hole. Put the 15" wind splitter back on the bike and haven't looked back.

My 17 was horrible. Couldnt hardly ride it with that small *** shield. put a 12 in freedom sport on it and it made all the difference... I was having to use goggles to ride. Now I can finally ride with my regular glasses again.. Not to mention I can actually hear my radio.. Im 6 ft 3 with a 34in inseam fwiw.

Since I use this bike mainly for touring with a passenger, I use a 14" Windvest. Not a 70 dollar windshield...

I have a brand new 12" laying around too that I tried first but the 14 was better - like awesome. No issues at all, works great.

For reference I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam. GF is 5'6" with a 28" inseam. Neither of us feel any buffeting.

I have a 14" KW Sport Flare. Couple bucks more than 70. Lol.

No wind issues at all. The stock shorty sucks. But I have risen an RGU with the stock tall shield. I felt zero air. Surprised by this post.

I'm 5'10" long 32" inseam.

The stock RGU windshield works very well for many. The RGS and RGC ones are just for looks.
Ride with the stock one awhile play with your vents before you spend the cash.

I don't know if a $70.. windshield will cure the problem or not but I feel like a $125 might come closer. At least that is my experience with having 3 sharknoses.
