Default 17 SG rear shock adjustment

I have a 17 Street glide (not special).

I notice it does have the adjustable rear shock.

Could not find any information in the manual on adjusting it, there are marks from 5-15, can someone please explain what the values are for and how to adjust correctly?

Thanks!

please double check your manual, there has to be some charts/tables with weights\setting recommendations..I'd be 'shocked' (pun intended) if there isn't

For you SG/s owners...what setting do you prefer?

My book for 2 up weight is saying 20 (200 plus 110) so I tried it at 18 and it was pretty stiff...I just put it down to 14 and that seems better.

My SGS rides like a wooden horse buggy on any setting I put it on but I still love it. Harley is way behind it's competitors in quite a few categories, suspension being near the top.

Using the chart for my RK i t said 180 lb rider and anything over a 150 pound passenger required cranking preload to max ( 20 turns). I think the manual is written wrong and means to say clicks instead of full turns because thats where I'm at an\d its fine. Around 12 full turns. Max is like riding a hard tail.

That explains the bottoming out a few times, time to crank that sucker down!

It's literally the last page in the manual. The little card at the back has the info on it.
