who's been having to add transmission fluid?

So the MOCO may have considered some of the ideas we have put forward to fix the transfer issue but because of the expense of recertification they haven’t put them forward. So as soon as we come up an idea that doesn’t mess with emissions they’ll probably incorporate it.

That's my thought. They know how to fix it the right way, but it's to expensive. And as Steve pointed out, if the MoCo changes the venting in any way what so ever they would have to go back for EPA and CARB testing, including the shed test. Besides the cost would be the time it would take.

As long as MoCo can convince the government that the change does the same thing then it would be only paperwork but they have to convince both EPA and CARB, two separate processes. If one or the other says NO then it is back into the lab to run whatever tests required to prove it.

That was my understanding yes. It seams that there is possibly a process that could be done with paper work according to Steve in his post. But yes, they test a lot more than just the tailpipe emissions. Makes you wonder why they quit venting the primary directly to atmosphere in the first place? Did it have something to do with passing stricter emissions at that point? Like venting the crankcase to the breather.

It just seems to me that if they look at what they changed in the trannys and/or primaries in '17, then that"s what started causing the problem.
Could the new primary cover with its smaller volume be causing it? I posted a poll for the transfer issue with the Rushmores and a few had it - about 12%.
If all of the Rushmores that had the problem were the "low" models, then maybe the narrow cover that came on them is a clue.
Who TF knows?
