Several guys have had the new seal/spacer installed. None that I aware of has fixed the problem.

curious here too. I have a new gasket in hand. Seems I read opening the vent hole 1/16" larger was the answer?
Who can confirm?? What if it's 1/8" larger?

Look at the vent hose on the cover plate. This is what limits the ability for the transmission to vent to the atmosphere. Making the hole in the gasket any larger than the ID of this hose isn't going to do anything. Opening one without the other isn't going to get you anywhere.

hey Steve...re: "limits the ability for the transmission to vent"...doesn't really mean it's insufficiently venting tho right? since you tested with filler cap removed and no change so there's zero reason to be modifying/increasing any cover, gasket, hose size...thx

I rode several 2018 Softail Models during Demo Days as where the MoCo brought an 18 Wheeler out with many of the 2018 model (including CVOs) One thing I did notice is that on the Softail Models, All of them went back to the ole reliable Clutch Cable. Plus, the clutch pull effort was much easier than on my 2017 Road King.

I agree. The factory gasket comes with a 3/16" hole in it. This should be more than sufficient to vent off any expansion from heat in the transmission. If the gasket is missing the hole or it has somehow sealed itself off, then replacing the gasket might render some results. The gasket for the previous models had a hole of about the same size in it and there were very few incidents of transfer.

"Back to"? I don't think the Softails ever went to hydraulic.

My Wife's 2010 Softail Convertible has a Hydraulic Clutch ... I think all of the CVO did as well as the Specials like the Fatboy and the Slim and a Dyna Low Rider Special with the 110" engine.

To my knowledge no Softies have sumped or migrated oil???
It appears that none of the Softail models have a hydraulic clutch and that is one of the criteria for having transmission fluid transfer. Put your mind at ease, all you have to worry about is sumping!
