If I listen to the manual it says halfway in between hot and add a quart if checking cold on the dipstick. I will just bring it down to that. I have to remove around 5 ounces with the turkey baster I am looking at

correct.."Oil level on a cold engine should never be above the midway point". just keep it at the 1/2 way markings between Add and Full when checking Cold and you'll never be over Full HOT and good to go
When I do my own fluid changes, I fill the primary with SYN-3 (as directed) and put the remaining 4 ozs. of that quart into my engine crankcase and I have never had an issue with oil coming out anywhere.
Changed my oil/filter last night. Took 4.5 quarts to get just above center on the dip stick. Hot that puts it on the very top of the stick when hot after setting two minuets using the jiffy stand scale.
ya i did this as well on my first change, overfilled the sucker based on the manual, read fine on the stick, a wee bit later had to clean the K&N out and start over. Cold i now put at the 5th/6th notch on the stick, hot hits full after that.

4 qts. in mine after a good warm drain puts the level on the stick in between the 5th and 6th dots cold (after firing to fill the oil filter and circulate). After a good hard run in 70*+ ambient, then idling for two mins. prior to shutdown, reading is here:
Note: 4.5 qts. with the oil cooler change netted the same results.
