Hi! New to the forum. I joined because I'm looking for info on what people have paid for new FLHXS models. I rented one on vacation and loved it and the wife and I feel this would be a good thing for us to get into together. I've owned smaller bikes, this will be my first bagger. This is also the first new bike I've bought. The dealerships near me have several 2015 and 2016 models for 18-20 depending on color, mileage, etc. in fact the dealers near me has a 2016 with 8k on it do 18500 that I like. I see the MSRP for a 2017 is around 25. Is it unreasonable to get a dealer to come down to say 22 for a new bike? I'd rather spend a little more and get the new engine and suspension I've never bought a new bike before teach me how to haggle haha.

 

Is it unreasonable? Maybe, but is it unrealistic? Probably. On a new years model, especially after a large change I would say out the door price of MSRP or just under is doing great. And slightly over would be the norm. You could easily get that much markdown or more on a new leftover model year if you found one you liked.

 

There's a dealer farther south that has their inventory posted online and actually sells new bikes for MSRP. My brother just bought a 2015 ultra limited for 18500 there. I'm gonna go there Friday, i may have them run my credit and see what I can do. I just paid off my truck and a bunch of credit card debt so I can get a new bike haha.

 

I know I have good credit just too much debt right now.

Well, not too much, I have some debt, I built a shop at my place last year and took on some credit card debt doing it but I just paid almost all of I it off and paid off my truck, I don't know how fast that stuff reflects on your credit is what I'm trying to say.

 

 

Do yourself a favor and go to Experian and check your credit report for yourself. You can sign up for 7 days for a $1 and run a full report. That report will not show up as an inquiry on your credit. The dealers will. Credit karma is advertised a lot and does not tell the full story all the time. Experian is what the major lenders use.

It takes a good month or more for debt reduction to fully show up. Having that report yourself will let you know if you're getting bs-ed. I just went through this with a house refinance. I made a purchase last year that offered 12 months same a cash. The thought was use someone elses money for free for that period. That showed up as a line of credit above 30% and effected my score slightly (I only have 1 other card and pay cash for everything). I paid it off because I had the money but it took a bit for it to get reported. I would just let off the throttle a bit and see where you are at before marching into the dealer and let emotion take over.

 

I know here in south La. they have a few shops that will sell below MSRP and no prep or freight charges. You just have to deal with them and be willing to walk. Don't be overly excited about how much you want a new bike. Also go to this website seedealercost.com
