Default Oil Pressure Light

Twice I have had to shut off the ignition and restart the bike due to the red oil pressure light being ON and the Check Oil Press on the info screen shows a value of -- (two dashes) onstead of OK.

I am guessing its the oil pressure sending unit rather than a true loss of oil pressure. Its the two dashes that lead me to think a signal is not present.

What do ya think?

Did you get the updated software that ups the idle to 950 compared to originally it was 850?

I assume it's updated. I just had the dealership do a stage 2 upgrade 30 days ago

Never assume anyone at a dealership did their job properly.

Not if you like your Bike... Ask questions when you drop it off, and again when you pick it back up...& check your Service Order...

If I bought a brand new bike @ $25,000 - $30,000 and then paid additional money for a stage 2 upgrade, I would want the dealer to come pickup the bike and find the cause for the oil light. I don't think I would want to be guessing if it has oil pressure. Your bike, your call.

The dealer picked up the bike at the house. The ECM code stored is a wiring short in the oil pressure sending unit. I will update as info comes in....

I had them trailer my new 2017 RGS back to the shop 4 times before they finally found a wire that had been misrouted. Don't know if that happened at the factory or when they, the dealership, installed Stage 1 upgrades to exhaust? But this last time they found the wire and, fortunately, the check engine light hasn't come on again.

Good luck. Hope it something that simple.
