That is what my dealer told me they expect to see as well.

What else would you expect them to do, they need a new frame for the V-Rod engine in a new style bike.

It would be interesting if they mounted the rear swingarm to the actual frame rather than though rubber mounts.
Possibly improve handling I suppose.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dynas go rigid mount on the drive train.

ha I would be surprised if they did that. while there are some who like that "real" feel, I am pretty sure that most people would hate something like that. I see rubber mounts for a VERY long time if not forever.

I guess we'll know in August / September time-frame.. They could go to say 95% counterbalance and make the motor pretty smooth tho I wouldn't be surprised if the baggers stay rubber mounted. On dynas, they can't mount the swingarm to the frame and keep the motor rubber mounted unless they get real creative on holding the motor in position with the swingarm.. Drive belts don't like alignment issues or too much slack. The current method is a fixed mount to the tranny whether the motor is rubber mounted (dyna / bagger) or solid (softail)

So if HD is going to a common frame they either rubber mount everything or solid mount everything. I guess they could use solid mount bushings on a rubber mount frame if needed?

Wouldn't be shocked if the engine doesn't become part of the frame itself.

Would require counter-balancing almost all of their engines but not surprised if it happens.

You forgot to add weight for a bike with all the fluids in it. That adds almost 100 lbs to each model Goldwing. Right now a new Goldwing 1800 weighs in at 904-933 lbs.

I think hd will keep the touring frame at its present stage. The common core I think will incorporated into the other lines. I think the b motor is history, so the dyna/softail/vrod should be the common core, maybe even the sporty.
