happened just before my 1K service, brought the bike in paid for the service and they replaced the rear abs sensor under warranty.

Edit:
fan worked great today (90 degrees) in traffic.
Kept the bag swag from getting out of hand

Oh, can you tell me where I was supposed to plug it in to? I made all the harness connections under the right side cover. Is the "correct" plug somewhere else?

It is not behind the side panel. There is a plug hanging below the right side panel.

Yes it i,s the fan get's it's speed reference for automatic on-off operation via the rear wheel sensor in the ABS circuit, which is behind the right side cover.
The plug you are talking about is the switched plug below and outside of the battery tray

Does the dealership have to enable the fan by uploading some firmware into the ECM?

Yes the dealership enables it via HD digital tech. 1/2hr labor at my dealer, had them enable the driving lights on with high beam at the same time while he was making keystrokes at $115 an hour.

Just put mine in this week. Makes a noticeable difference. IMHO, when it's less than 95* out +/- a few degrees, this fan makes all of the difference in the world. The few times I've seen it over 95 so far, it seems like the heat coming up from the pavement just overwhelms everything else. The engine heat just blends in.

Dang-it! Wish I'd have thunk about that. Oh well, I'll have to go back in sooner or later.
