Engine braking causes carbon deposits from oil getting past the rings, I think some of this oil gets into the manifold too because of vacuum, this and additives in gas I believe caused piston deposits and manifold oil in my 3k old engine that was bypassed when new (6 miles). Note: My stage IV is using less oil than the stock 114, fitted pistons, and I consciously do less engine braking.

Did the DK Outlaw breather bolts and the 587 air cleaner. Rode about 75 miles today and no oil to be seen.😀

To be honest I can not be 100% certain what caused the breathers to stop puking oil but I am certain there is no oil in my new aluminum manifold.

Did you look behind the throttle blade?
I keep my oil level low and never got oiling on the filter or the front of the throttle body, but it did show up behind the blade in the manifold while being externally vented or not.

Install the Trask Check M8. No oil in the filter while allowing proper crankcase ventilation. You can thank me later.

I finally caved, and bought one from Fuel Moto. How much redundancy are we talking when you have the Trask, and the external vent in place?

It wont effect anything by having the external vent with the Check M8. If you had left the air cleaner ventilation as is it can help toward having a slight vacuum in the crankcase, which is ideal. But having the external breather mod and the Check M8 won't negatively effect anything. You'll still be getting better crankcase ventilation.

Vented mine. Drilled the backplate and installed a "T" inside the air cleaner and ran the hose out and down below the frame.
