spare brake fluid jar with holes on the lid already. stock bike only a film of oil noticed, keeping and eye on it, already did the vented dip stick last year.
rode 215 miles yesterday, average speed 85 mph, ambient temp 90 degrees... checked brake fluid jar catch can. I had placed a few strips of cotton cloth in the bottom of the jar to act as a baffle ,you can sort of see them if you look close. They were just wet with oil. so im guessing at this point I will need to empty it every 2000 miles , im keeping an eye on it.
Why bother with catch can, run hose down to bottom of frame and exit to atmosphere. Mine exits down below swing arm, done it on every bike I've own soon as I bought them. Keep that **** out of the throttle body....just sayin
I originally thought that rerouting the breather hoses was a solution looking for a problem, until I disassembled my engine at 10,000 miles.
The piston tops were covered in carbon, you couldn`t see the valve pockets.
It now appeared to me that there was a problem, looking for a solution.
My solution was simple, no catch can, just ran the oem hoses into a T, to another hose out through the air cleaner box and down to the frame.
I have yet to see a drop of oil on the end of the hose.
I do that in my V-Rod, just run hose to ground, no oil. But since my dad just died, this made me think of him. On my Roadie there would be a spot of oil at times. So when I'd visit my dad he mentioned that - a spot of oil left under my bike on his driveway. So I put a catch can. Had to keep him happy even though he said don't worry about it. Never realized that it would be *this* difficult of a time after losing him.

Hang in there Brother. It gets better. Just takes time to process. If you keep your thoughts positive, the pain will pass and all you'll remember are all the good times you'd had.
Wishing you the luck this happens fast for you, and sincerely, sorry for your loss. I've been there more than a few times...
