Anyone doing the breather bypass on your M8?
#491
I just posted the description of what I did on a softail thread, so I’ll take the easy way out and copy and paste!
“It's the regular M8 heavy breather, to which I drilled, tapped and installed 1/4" stainless hose barbs in the standoffs. I then tapped the breather passages and with red oil resistant loctite and primer, I screwed in (hard) 5mm x 12mm set screws to seal them. I also filled the top ends of the breather passages (up by the bolts) with JB weld just to ensure no oil gets in and sits on top of the set screws.
The filter is exactly as you say, the element from the twin cam heavy breather elite. Fits right on the M8 snout.
The breather filter is from Amazon and I used 1/4" fuel line. I get a nothing more then a drop of two of water as the oil heats up, not ever any oil out of the filter. I keep my oil level at 1/2 hot.’
And:
Here's the laundry list of the stuff I used:
That should be long and detailed enough, right?
:-)
Edit: oh, and just to add, my JB weld/set screw job is probably double secret overkill. Filling it with black permtex is probably more then enough...
‘Edit again: here is a different AC, but the barbs and procedure are exactly the same...

i don't even remember if i posted my solution on this thread, but here it is.
i've done this to every ac for the past several years. I keep my oil level half full hot so i never get any carryover. Worst i see is some water from condensation burning off during the cooler months. That just wipes off my rear pipe. Never any oil.

Man, is that even still a thing?? o2 sensor safe sealants have been out since the 90s, and I have not seen this at all in recent years. ****, they even stopped printing "Oxygen Sensor Safe" on the packaging, I just figured the industry took it for granted, now.
