There is no problem with running the hoses uphill a small distance (within reason) as long as you don't pinch or block the hose.

As far as physics goes, this system works on pressure like a water hose. The small amount of oil retained in the hose is not enough to stop the flow of gases etc.

one missunderstanding some have is that the muck that gets caught is a good thing. Or the most correct aproach to crank pressure out bypass
Hot oil and hot dirty evaporation and hot air is a power robbing, on going dillema
if we allow it to happen. And bypass devices are all good protection against it. No need for expensive after market customs, but usually cleaner looing than some home
made. I have posted a picture of mine on here many times.
A real conversation piece LOL
And it didnt vent below or above the intake. It was placed level with it. My Whimmer system is in the same lovatio and was bery expensive. But it didnt catch more or less than my home build did.
abut why? Because they were placed on the same spot.
place below the intake
would catch more
Placing the bypass above the intake would catch none
better this way cause your just benting pressure
and heat
oil stays in the crank and dirty vapor is burned
away in the heat built in the crank. So its all good. As long as it stays out of the intake

The stock breather fittings are there.
I recently moved the catch can to under the bike. Moisture was escaping through the holes and making little dots on my chrome. Since I'm a neat freak, had to move the catch can.

There is an OEM upgrade available which has extended outlet pipes which thrust them further into the inlet airstream.
I just did the same by adding an extension in each side with a tight fitting plastic hose and secured them with a stainless steel pin from my wife's sewing box. Works a charm. Zero gunk inside the filter body!
More importantly the oil residue has not just been transferred under the frame and onto the back tyre!

Yeah but it is still all going back into the engine and creating carbon on top of pistons

My external vent hose exits a full 21 inches in front of the rear tire. It does not leave any residue on either the tire or the frame. This is after 23,000 miles. I put on at least 50 + miles every day so I keep it blown out.

Even if it did get on the tire, it would
not
be noticeable
It really shouldn’t be more than a drop a second or less. And that’s mostly frothy water
