Anyone doing the breather bypass on your M8?

I have run external in the past, they drip mostly condensation and a little oil thats separated out of the mist, Mix the two and you get snot. Running up hill will make it tough to expel that stuff. can you imagine what the inside of a motor will look like with that snot trapped inside. YUK!

yeah, not desirable obviously, but after about 20 years and how many millions of bikes and miles that have that 'look' inside their engines...well, they managed to survive without causing real problems right... just playing the Devil's Advocate perspective here that it didn't mean impending doom and gloom for all the bikes that didn't do breather bypasses
It's not like adding a bypass is hard or expensive either. We already know what blow by does to the pistons. For some like me, it's a no brainer.
Kinda a better safe than sorry thing. Even if it doesn't save an engine down the road, at least the cylinders and intake are cleaner.

There was a lot of carbon on your heads you just had replaced. It maybe wasn't the actual issue, but I'm sure the blow by contributed to it.

I think you misunderstood what I said. When I say trapped inside, I refer to trapped inside the crankcase. The stock setup expels the gunk out of the engine and then regurgitates it to be burned, there is no gunk trapped inside the crankcase. I have seen home made external breathers that can cause more harm than good. My comment was solely about external breather designs that run up hill.

As long as it is rubber fuel line and not tygon it will not melt. I am using gates vacuum line because it is smaller in diameter and thus doesn't stand out as much. It is rated at 250 degrees. It hasn't melted, and fuel line is typically rated higher than vacuum line. So no worries.
