Drilled/tapped backplate for 1/8 NPT - 5/16 HB. The barbs are screwed into the brass inserts as shown.

Then drilled tapped for 8-32 set screws red loctited in place and doubled up to block internal passages...

I asked S&S support if anyone had done this and he said I was likely the guinea pig, so I just had to lol. There's no way with my build I am dumping crap back into my intake.

I chose this AC over others for what I thought would be ease of modification and it worked well. I don't like the Heavy Breather or oval style ACs, so this fit the bill. Will probably run this with the 1" taller filter.

Stage I M8 air cleaner external breather using K&N filter.
It is mainly moisture being discharged (especially when it is cold) and a small amount of oily mist. Left to it's own it does not get sucked into the butterfly and drools down the face of the back plate where it ends up on the rubber gasket of the OEM air filter. When enough of it accumulates it pukes out the milky mixture via osmosis which blows on the rear exhaust pipe, cam chest and the front of the right hand saddlebag. Dealer said nothing he could do. I might have mentioned that I thought it was another case of PP engineering on the part of the MOCO.

I did have to drill a hole in the back plate to run the rubber windshield wiper hose through. Two feet of hose and two plastic t's to connect the hoses together was pretty much all I needed. The hose ends slipped right over the existing breather bolts.

What size tap did you use on the NPT fitting? Doing mine today.

Fitting was 1/8 NPT to 1/4 HB - I forget exact tap size. If you do a Google search on tap size and it will indicate what you need. I had 1/8 NPT to 5/16 HB, but though that was too large so went with the 1/4 HB. I also removed the thread tape and went with Loctite thread sealant (white)

I appreciate it. I just went to Home Depot to find thread size and they didn’t sell taps in the size I needed. I will do a quick search and get the correct info. Good thing I have two bikes if I have to order a tap. 👍

I found my tap at a local Ace Hardware. Good luck! Oh and if you do go to Ace and they have Dot's Pretzels, gotta try 'em they are addicting.
