So with flat tappet camshaft lifters the need for high zink level in oil is why it is needed to keep the lifter rotating. in it's bore. other attributes. less oil consumption.

Great info but the thread has been dead for two years, and before that it was dead for over a year.

So I was doing something looking at something for the oil system on google and it directed me to the diagram of the M8 oil cooler _ oh yeah, it was a discussion on the real reason the sumping occurs. and it goes un noticed due to the drain back occurs. from the oil cooler system and that check valve goes bad in the exit from the crankcase. So as the thread lay dormant for some time. are you the gate keeper? I so apologize for not requesting to post. the thread is not closed was it ? Any way It looks open now.

I am no moderator or gatekeeper by any means. I would probably suggest posting in one of the 5 or so sumping threads to discuss. Lots of lively discussion in there. People get very aggravated talking about sumping, especially when someone hotshots in and 'knows' the real reason. Resurrecting an old thread to discuss it when there are many others that alive and well is equivalent to starting a new thread on the topic - which people don't like. I'll stop giving advice. Good day.

When people mention engine temperatures are they referring to cylinder head temperatures?
