M8 shocks

If I hadn't had Harley bucks, I would have given serious thought to the Intiminators and RICOR's rear adjustable shocks. I have not read a bad review of them once installed. I suspect their completion is Motorcycle Metal. FWIW, I have the HD Premium Adjustable shocks and Progressive Monotubes and have zero complaints. I also would like to hear more reviews of those that have had the HD premiums and now are on a '17.

I installed the Intiminators and they do make a difference. They make it seem as though the bumps are covered in a rubber mat; still there but muted. Sometimes when I expect to feel a bump there's nothing and other times I expect to not feel anything and do. I've put a few hundred miles on them and I am even more ready to go to Phase 2 of my suspension upgrades but for now still loving it.

My 16 RG CVO rear shocks have a dial that has increments that click when you adjust with a light turn. My 17 RGS the dial turns in to cover marks as it moves inward. Takes more force as it turns in.
So they are different shocks all together in form and could not have the same part number.
I would give the edge to the 17's shocks especially over harder bumps. I already have 5K on it over several states and road conditions.

I might would agree with your last statement. I am working on my "First Impression Ricor 49 MM Intiminators" thread and I make mention on riding the 2017 Limited over manhole covers and how smooth it was as opposed to how harsh it was with the Intiminators installed on my 2014, the caveat being that I did not have the oil level adjusted to account for the installation and may have(?) contributed to that harshness as I have not found that to be the case since adjusting it. I will have to hold judgement until I get back to the same route or come across similar protruding manhole covers locally. But I can say that railroad tracks are crossed more quickly and with no teeth clenching since the corrected install.

I called the motor company today. They said the 2017 shocks are different than the Earlier versions. They also said they would only work with the 2017 bikes. When I challenged them they said it would be better if I called my dealer. They gave me a part #54000114. That turned out to be the right shock. I called the deAler and they said they think they should would work for 2009 and up. They said they look identical to the older version but they think the internals are different. They called the motor company but could not get a definite answer. It's like a big secret. Guess they want you to buy a new bike.

I dont have a lot of faith in Harley Tech. The 2017 Parts Manual has the FLHTCU shocks as being 5400093 and 5400094, same as the the PNs in the Standard Length Kit 5400008...which doesn't mean that they are the same but could just share the same PN which may need to be ordered by VIN...just guessing on this.

So the 2017 shocks don't have a click to mark 1/2 or 1 full turn of the ****?

I hope this helps someone.

I am trying to determine if you used the new M8 shocks? I am also trying to determine if the 54000008 kit has both 54000093 & 54000094 in the box? Or is the 13” M8 shocks a bit different than the 13” shock from 54000008 that have been available prior to the release of the M8?
Bought the kit.
Both are in the kit. Same PN but the label on the shock is different; Prior had scale of Low/Med/High, new scale is numbered 5, 10, 15 and 20 with 3 additional tick marks so you know where you are adjustment wise and don't have to be riding down the highway thinking about it..LOL. Took pictures today right before test ride of a Limited. Operator's manual has new adjustment chart set up in a table where you look at the rider's weight and follow it across to appropriate additional weigh carried and you will have the appropriate clicks. Not sure if it has more capacity or just more adjustment. Either way I like it better, wish I had known before pulling the trigger but still happy.
