I don't blame anyone for being cautious especially those folks who have experienced problems with new products before. But I jumped in with both feet...Geronimo!....we will see what happens. So far so good. I'm really enjoying the bike.

 

We don't know each other, but I assure you, I could make it happen. When your bike gets fixed, maybe we could meet for coffee and a ride; I'll explain in detail then.

 

I road an m8 ultra and a road glde. Both were impressive to me. Pulled strong from 2k up. Only thing I did not like was a stiff clutch lever. Like others, I am a little leary of the single cam set up but time will tell. Hope they pan out I will be looking to purchase in a year or two.

The M8 I rode, a Road King was very impressive. I hope for the sake of the new owners whose bikes have problems they get them sorted very soon. The MOCO needs this program to go well.

All these yahoo's flaming the op dont get it. I am a loyal HD owner and was burned exactly 10 years ago buying a first year model bike. Its reasonable to keep track of common issues with new motors. I wish all new owners nothing but good luck. I just know what has happened with the MoCo in the past. Leaky head gaskets, crank runout issues, bad compensator design etc. Enuf said.

 

I did the same by jumping right in after test riding the new SGS and RGS, though it's not something I'll usually do for the very reason that I believe first year runs will typically always have some bugs to work out. I'm a week on my new Road Glide Special and have logged a little over 600 miles so far. My girl and I took a nice ride to Vermont and the improvements (so far) over my 2012 SG are considerable. It's transformation is in progress, but my dealer has already told me their techs are learning as they go because the M8 is all new. Plus HD hasn't even released all the new extras they're offering, so even that's being held up. For me, I'll be happy just seeing some after market true duals and slip-ons come available.

 

I have a a collection of contemporary H-D's which include all the families of models with engines from the EVO and TC-s from 88's to 120's and 883's,1200's and the 1250/750 Revolution engines. I don't look at these bikes I ride them. did 42K+ last year and am at 34K so far this year.

I just finished 1,200 miles on my 17 Road Glide S with stage 1 mods. My butt sensor has over 60 years of motorcycle riding in it and more than 70 bikes from a Norton, most metrics, Ural, Buell and 27 H-Ds with 22 still my my garage.

The M8 is the most analysed and researched bike H'D ever did. They used over 1000 owners world wide in a focus group, online survey's along with 1.5 million miles of testing since 2005.

The Stage 1 M8 out pulls my 12 and 16 RG CVO's without question. The 12 RG CVO was the most potent stock 110 H-D ever produced with 10.12 compression and 122 ft lbs of torque at the crank. Other touring 110's were/are 115 ft. lbs. of torque.

The 17 out rides,out tracks, out brakes and out pulls everything except the V Rod, 110 Dyna S and my Street Bob with a 120R.

Of course it is only my opinion and butt sensor that claims this. I will stake my cred that the the 17 touring is the best H-D ever and is a world class touring machine. I had a 6 cylinder 118 hp Honda Rune which was touted as Honda's example of their styling and engineering prowess. I dumped that sucker in 1 year. I have had many miles of seat time on a RT1200T touring BMW. No thanks.
