I wish you the best with the new 2018. You are a patient man and apparently very forgiving. If it were me I would go for a low mileage TC with a gear set installed and give up on the new engine.

 

 

I understand that many would feel this way. I'm not sure why but I just love riding a Harley. Probably stupid. But the good news is they made it right for me and I think for that they should be commended. I loved the bike, and I love the new bike, and I'm sure it will be fine. I just want to put shitloads of miles on it. I've got a few trips planned, which I'm looking forward to and are very much needed for my mental health.

I will say this - given that the 107s are powerful enough not to need a stage 1 (yes, they call me grandpa), the new suspension is an enormous improvement, my strategy going forward is to trade every 2 years, and not put anything on the bike that can't be easily moved to a new one.

 

I did that with my 15 RK to 17 RK..the deal included transferring all my goodies over which was a huge deal considering the alternative of switching models and have to start all over, which I would not have done. and stage 1 added more than enough get up and go so nice to not be thinking of throwing big $$$ at a non issue...plan at this point is to keep this one for awhile and not purchase an ESP...all subject to change TBD depending on how things go the next 6 months...probably need tires, maybe brakes, hydraulic fluids flushed and warranty will be expired...probably game time decision whether to put money into it with 25K miles or rinse and repeat staring over, new RK, parts swapped, etc..I got a great deal last time and it would have to be identical

 

Road glide whistle!
This are the things I have done so far but F***G whistle still there.
1. Tape off top and bottom gap between headlights and fairing
2. Tape off bottom of windshield
3. Tape off right front axle bolt holes
4. Closed and opened all vents
Bike is 2017 with 20kmiles. Stock windshield. No modification except 12” handlebar change

Anymore suggestions?

 

Change your helmet??

 

I use earplugs but started to do so too late. I have hearing loss attributed to wind noise from years of riding without them....but could have been from working around those jet aircraft for years without using them. Ear plugs should reduce or eliminate the whistle. I have the whistle even when not riding, tinnitus! So you young guys put the earplugs in when ridding and save your hearing for later in life!
