so you're stating the sumping issue is only on a few bikes for some reason and not an overall design flaw? Can you tell how you arrived at that conclusion?

if someone doesn't know their bike is being damaged when they're riding it hard, of course they'd be happy?

I had to wade through 60 pages of posts to find the information discussed here.

Why would they not know? Everyone I ride with, checks their fluids on a regular basis, as a general practice, why would you not? It takes 30 seconds.

I’m in no way shape or form an HD apologists, believe me, I’ve had a love/hate relationship for 40 years. All I’m saying is, I wouldn’t let the issue stop me from buying and enjoying a great bike. Just keep an eye on things, it ain’t that hard. If a problem arises, make them fix it.
Maybe I’m wrong, I think this was probably some bad parts. If it was a major design flaw, every single M8 would be fu@&$d. Think about it.

While I've not had a love hate relationship with HD, I've always taken them for the tey are.. A Harley. They are far from perfect tho the M8 is a step in the right direction. Heck I bought a new 2000 FXDX knowing full well that the rear cam bearing could go out and the cam tensioners wouldn't last..

As far as issues go whether it be oil xfer or sumping it's more then likely a design weakness than a flaw. My bet is that if you pull apart a bike with either issue you won't find anything out of tolerance. You may find some stuff close to tolerance but it's more then likely simply a combination of things causes the issues.

Because if it was a design flaw it would happen on every bike.

this begs the question asked above, what specifically is causing the issue.

It tells the dealer to verify the problem exists, sumping, its causes and if it is able to be duplicated, then replace the oil pump. Now with a new oil pump do the same operating conditions result in the same problem? I don't know but maybe someone on the forum who has had their's replaced by this service bulletin can tell us.
Well, the 2018 FLTRU that Harley gave me to replace my 2017 FLTRU that went through 3 stock 107 engines, was built in March (2018), so I'm hoping they got all the parts right in this one
