What I take away from these posts is that it looks like a lot of issues stem from the dealership itself. I have to admit on the positive side, I couldn't be any happier with every aspect of my dealer experience. Service is first rate, sales personnel are well trained and professional as is the parts and clothing departments.

Default 2017 CVO Limited - 3rd time in shop, same issue

Well, my bike has just been a pain in the *** since new. And with only 3,800 miles on it, you wouldnt think it would be having so many problems with loss of power, overheating, coolant leaks, loud knocking noises and now, ..............wait for it..........just plain shutting down and turning off at 70 mph next to semi trucks.

First time was told, there are no issues and "could not duplicate", second time (within 200 miles of first time) was told it was a sumping issue and they were going to follow M1450 bulletin to correct. third time (within 50 miles of second time) well.....dont know yet. Still in shop.

At this point confidence is shot and I am not sure giving me a new bike would matter.............that 2018 BMW bagger looks kinda nice...hmmm...

Does your state lemon law apply to bikes?

Default Piston slap

Got my bike back today, had to replace pistons and sleeves. 3 weeks in the shop but at least I've got it back.

I haven't seen to many dealers that sell and service well,It's one or the other.I alway's buy at the same one and drive hour south for the good service. So the statement above is correct I think many problems are caused from poorly ran service departments.

"post problems with the new M8 engines here." I would, but so far it's been flawless.

I have had mine for 3 months now and have almost 4 k on the bike there has been no problems. One should remember tho this is a fly by wire motor. Making changes to the motor means changes to the computer or the computer will try and correct the issue. So it might be a while before some computer geek makes a aftermarket program to over ride the factory and still have a motor that will run. good luck

Update on my 2017 CVO Limited. Build date Jan 2017, purchased June 30th 2017, 8800 miles on it. Here is everything that has been done:
1. Front break master cylinder rebuild do to sticking break lever
2. Throttle actuator (whatever it called -"guts") due to sticking throttle.
3. Oil pump due to suspected sumping
4. New cam and tappets while doing oil pump due to "abnormal wear marks."

And currently having an issue where my maps will just disappear from the nav screen and don't come back until the bike is turned off completely - not just the boom turned off.

Don't see this as a great track record thus far. Hopefully they will figure all this crap out before the warranty is up. Kudos to the dealer though as they alway do what's right.

Fasted speed I could get to was 25 mph. The bike's been at the dealer a couple of days and the factory tech will be at the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully they find the problem. They've already replaced the throttle body, changed out pin connectors and repaired one broken wire.
After changing the pins and replacing the throttle body plug the bike's running perfect. Since I've picked it up, I've put over 500 miles on it since Thursday. I'll be riding again today. The 114 is awesome but it's way too damned quiet.
