GA - Wolf Pen Gap Run on 7/19

Stoner
There's a more scenic way to get to Dahlonega that I know by heart. Why don't I take you guys up there and we can switch lead before hitting the twisties.
Also, if we hit wolf pen and B russell early then we will run into the bicycle riders.. let's turn right at the stone pile and run over to turners corner then up to cleveland.. after lunch the bicycle riders will be gone from around suches.
Some will want to continue home on 60 and 400 but others will continue on backroads to 53/9 to get back to the cumming area. we will stop for a break back in dahlonega before splitting up.

Cool by me, I'm easy!
Can't say I have ran into that many bicycles up that way except for on 129 (could be the times I like to ride too).
Looks like it will be standard scatterd showers type of day per the early forecast.
I have some much longer and certainly more back roads routes but wasn't sure who all might be into that, some are pretty remote. I mostly use the zumo to track the rides where wife and I just go out and get lost (and the MP3 storage), love to just go ride and then just hit the "Go Home" button

Here's what I was thinking. (Remembering that some will be riding for a long time to get to Cumming, 1.5 hours in some cases and the same to get home.)
Our entire trip will be fairly quick from WH and back. Since we are KSU @ 10 AM we have lots of time to make what is actually just over an hour trip to Cleveland for lunch if a hwy route is chosen. So, we try to stretch the "to Cleveland" leg out as much as possible. From the WH we take a zig-zag route over to Bannister then pick up 9 @ Silver City and take your mentioned route thru Dawsonville to Dahlonega via 9 and 52.
From 9 to noon the bicycle riders are normally out in force on 60 to Suches and even on 180 sometimes. It kills the ride from the split at the Princes burial rock pile to 180. I thought if we reversed our ride and get to Cleveland first via Turners Corner then 129 we could have time to find a nice place to shove vittles down our necks, gas up and relax before hitting a nice place to stop and take some smiley photos at the overlooks on B Russell.
From there we jump could jump on Alt 75 to B Russell or... we could drive right through Helen (just to say "we were there again" only) and hit Alt 75 from the north and pick up B Russell from there then over to 180, taking a quick break at the convenience store @ 60 & 180 then back to Dahlonega.
At Dahlonega there will be several that will probably want to split and take 60 over to Gainesville while others will want to head back down 52/9 towards Cumming. We could even split that up and make our way further west by going straight through Dawsonville over to Tate so the south and west riders don't have to see the same country twice that day.
None of this is written in stone and is just a suggestion on my part but give me back roads over Hwy's when headed to the mountains and i'll be ya buddy fer life.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good weather. If it will be nice all day I may take the Fatboy instead of the Trike. Will just have to wait and see.

All sounds good to me. Typically if you find a road that has a center strip then you are OK on a scoot, can get dicey on lesser roads with folks that might not have 42 years in the saddle like me. Hell I will go most anywhere as long as it ain't rock, I leave that for the four wheeler and deer hunting.
Yet another suggestion for lunch is the Wagon Wheel up in Dahlonega, good country cooking if you've never been there.
The GA Mountain Fair in Haiwassee will be open starting Wednesday as well, could be an option then back down 17.
Like I said I'm easy!
We did Cherohala this past Saturday with about 25 bikes from my HOG chapter and man let me tell you that was painful doing single file up over that route. Less than 300 miles and only averaged 31.4 MPH, dang near fell asleep coasting down the TN side to Tellico.

Man that's our favorite, just hit the road and go explore and listen to tunes along the way. I I can't figure out where we are then I do just like I said, hit the "Go Home" button.

Yea Right! Who holds the land speed record in Sandy springs?
Just remember you're riding up with an old guy!
What time do you want to meet? It has been quite some time since I have been up around Barrett Pwy, so where would be a good place to meet?
How long do you think it will take us to get from Marietta to Cumming? If the wife comes we will have to drop her car off at the shopping center there at I-575 and Hwy20.
