Thundering Herd Part 1
I learned 2 things yesterday;
#1. Rob (Carmell RKC) , Bruce ( 06 deluxe_scoot) and Steve (Bubba) from this forum are 3 great guys. I’d go riding with any combination of them again any day of the week.
And #2. I suck as a ride captain !
The 4 of us were supposed to meet at Pomona Valley HD at 9am sharp yesterday morning, Sunday 3/12.
I had previously met Rob who had previously met Bruce who had never met Steve or I who had never each other who…. Oh you get the idea.
I decide to put one more doo-dad on the SG at the last moment and of course that turns into a farce and I, the knucklehead who put this ride together, show up 25 minutes late.
Well we meet. We shake hands. I talk Rob into buying 2 more things for his bike and I do the same.
We go outside to mutually admire each other’s bikes and then get ready to roll.
We’re heading down to Laguna Hills to a biker clothing outlet store.
I volunteer to lead and give them the general route outline.
We jump on the fwy. We transition to another fwy.
I then throw out the prearranged route faster than you can shift from first to fifth with an 18 wheeler on your tail.
Decide to take the “Scenic Route” only to find the road closed ½ mile short of our cutoff.
We backtrack a block and I’ve got my best “I know where we are “ look on.
Of course I don’t. We meander through cow country enjoying the view and that particular “odor” in the air. Even ride under a flock of cowbirds just waiting to be bombed on.
Make our way back (finally) to our designated fwy and proceed to Laguna Hills without incident.
Do a little shopping. Steve aka Bubba gets a killer leather jacket that should cost around $350-$400 for only $200. (If Mrs. Steve is reading this, he really only paid hmmm… $40…yeah $40)
We come up with our next destination after fueling only to have yours truly go north instead of south, once again canceling out our pre-designated route (Oh no… I Suck Again!)
We eventually end up on the coast route, PCH and cruise into Sunset Beach for lunch.
Had a decent meal (Thanks again for picking up the tab, Bruce) then we all headed inland and home. I peeled off first and hopefully the rest of the Thundering Herd didn’t get too wet as the Heavens opened up shortly after I got the SG in the garage.
I did 157 miles on my new SG with the other 2 doing a little more and Rob doing a lot more before he made it back home.
Thanks again guys! I had a blast and look forward to riding with you guys again soon.
Anyone else interested just PM me and we’ll make sure to invite for the next running of the Thundering Herd !
Anyway here’s the picture of our motley crew:
That’s Rob on the far left, me Primo aka Jim to his right followed by Bruce and the newly leather clad Steve on the far right.

RE: Thundering Herd Part 1
Jim Can be ride captain any time, I sure didn’t mind going the long way around.
The scenic route was just fine so remember it’s not where you ride, it’s just that you ride that counts.
Thanks guy’s I had a blast and will be looking forward to meeting up again.
here's picture of the rides.

The day truely rocked guys, I had a total blast and cant wait for the next run. I managed to get home without riding through rain, just wet roads and 33 deg. in Beaumont. Jim you can Road Captain anytime, although you might want to fix that exhaust issue, the last time I rode behind something that quiet I was riding behind a BMW Lets do it again soon, Rob.

Don't worry. My stage 1 kit came today. My Ovals will be barking nicely by the next time we ride.
As for Road Captaining (is that even a word?...I guess not) how about I just announce the final destination and just wing it until we get there?
Thanks again guys.
Anybody else care to join the Thundering Herd, just PM me.
Ride safe all,
Primo
