On friday night, we lost a friend of ours when he hit a tree.&nbsp\\; he leaves behind 4 small children, all under 4. his mother is currently in tennesee gettign treatment for cancer and she is not doing well. he wasnot married, but he did live with the monther of his kids, she hasnt been working, because the child care would eat up every cent she made.&nbsp\\; to make a long story short, they are having it pretty rough right now. .some of us have been tryign to think of a way to raise money for the family, but we arent quite sure how to go about it.&nbsp\\; Bikers are notorious for their&nbsp\\;generosity, but most benefits i see seem to be for sick or dying children and thru an organized charity.&nbsp\\; nobody really feels comfortable asking fo rmoney from anyone, and we dont want to just take money from people and not have anything to offer them.&nbsp\\; anyone have any ideas?

 

Keep in mind that most folks have made their weekend plans for the rest of the summer so you have to make your benefit easy for them to squeeze into their schedule.&nbsp\\; Having an event somewhere is usually simpler (and cheaper) than putting on a ride and it gives you a lot more to work with when you're talking about 3-4 hours instead of all day.&nbsp\\;

Find a bar who will donate part of the proceeds and a band that will play for free and you're home free.&nbsp\\; You can hit up businesses for donations of goods and services then auction the stuff off.&nbsp\\;

For a different twist, have a "no-run poker run" and do it just like a regular poker run except all the cards are drawn at the same place.&nbsp\\; Sell extra hands, extra cards, whatever raises more money.
