Default RE: PGR Veteran Eccort 5/14/08

To all riders who are available. Next Weds. 5/14/08, the Patriot Guard Riders will be standing a flag line and escorting Veterans from two locations to the airport for a day trip to visit Washington, D.C. veteran's memorials. There is a thread on the PGR website in the Dixie Region Georgia page with locations and start times.
The Roswell location is meeting at Roswell City Park on Woodstock Road at 6am on May 14th. There will be a flag line for the veterans as they load onto the bus and then there will be an escorted ride to the airport.
The other location is in Fayetteville. Please contact Jeff "Jay Dub" Goodiel at 404-444-4770 if you can participate.

All those who are available please show these veterans our respect for there service by attending this escort ride.

The Patriot Guard has been invited to participate in a very special mission.
The Honor Flight Network is a non profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. They fly our heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – WW II survivors along with those other veterans that may be terminally ill.
Based on recent statistics, we are losing WW II veterans at the rate of 1200 to 1500 per day. Honor Flight will continue do whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of our veterans and, very importantly, our senior heroes travel absolutely free. The trip will be of no cost to the World War II veterans. It is the intention of the Honor Flight Network to honor as many of these selfless “ordinary people who saved the world” as possible by providing them a completely free day trip, with personal attention be given to their needs to visit their Memorial. The youngest World War II veteran is an octogenarian. Many of the men and women who fought and sacrificed for our country have not had an opportunity, or ability, to visit.
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in 2 of these flights originating in Georgia. One is in Roswell and the other is in Fayetteville. Both flights are on May 14th, 2008
We will meet at both locations. You going to the one that is closest or most convenient to you. I (JayDub) will be the RCIC for the one in Roswell and Larry (Eagle1) being the RCIC in Fayetteville. Keep in mind folks this is a very early morning mission. The veterans begin boarding the buses at approximately 0615 am. Our job is to provide a flagline for them as they board, then provide an escort to the airport supported by LEO escort.
Staging times and locations are still being worked out and will be posted soon.
Here is how Honor Flight works, approximately 100 World War II veterans in Roswell and 75 from Fayetteville plus guardians, doctors and emergency personnel will gather in early morning hours May 14, 2008 and be taken by bus to the Atlanta airport. The veterans will fly on a chartered flight to Washington, D.C., where they will be escorted on buses from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to the World War II Memorial. They will also visit the Vietnam Memorial and the Tomb of Unknown Soldier. They return to the Reagan airport, fly to Atlanta andreturn back to Roswell and Fayetteville that same day. For every three to four veterans, a volunteer guardian will assist them. Paramedics and wheelchairs will be available for the journey.
What an incredibly special opportunity - to spend some time with, to give our thanks to and take part in their journey to see their memorial in DC. Approximately 175 WWII Veterans-way cool!
I sincerely hope as many of you as possible can make time to participate in this feel good mission.
[b]As you confirm that you can participate please indicate which location you will attend.[/b
