Had a mission today for work where I was able to ride my bike about 100 miles each way on 1-80 west of Des Moines. Tons of bikes headed towards Sturgis all loaded up (or at least that ws my perception). Wish I was headed that way but duty calls I guess.. Almost just kept on going and called the wife and told her I got lost and ended up in South Dakota. Maybe next year

On a fun note- Iowa State Fair starts on Thursday - one of the best fairs in the country - guess that's my Sturgis this year

 

Don't think it was a perception.

My Mrs is currently enr back to Kansas from Minnesota. She called from the road to comment on the number of bikes headin NB on I-35.

During my ride to Mo today, I saw an above average number of bikes on W/B 70, and N/B 435, 35, US 71, etc, and they were all loaded for bear.

 

Same here in Indiana. I'm only about 2 miles from I-70 and there was a ton of bikes heading WB yesterday. I could only watch and wish.....maybe next year.

 

next year for me too!!!!!!!!!started saving already(got reid of the wife already)LOL...went to iowa a few years ago down by the missouri boarder(vanburen county) gonna live there some day....lot of hunting and fishing out there too!

i live in upstate NY,it's a ways out there for me but my FLHT should do alright

 

I was in the Black Hills region of South Dakota (along with a stint into Montana and Wyoming)this past November, Sturgis or not, it's absolutely beautiful country. I'll go back again some day

 

Just got back from Sturgis last night ... Great time by all ... HOT, HOT, HOT though. stayed at Glencoe Camp resort.. Already have reservations for next year ..

Don't forget Harley's 105th birthday next year. that is what we will be doing in Aug of 08, and then in Aug of 09 back to Sturgis, again. Vegas Bike week this September.
