View Poll Results: Why do you check out vintage Harley threads?
I hope to own a vintage Harley and I am always looking for ideas/information on a certain year.

Those bars do look the same. I am planning on using them but having the ends pointing down to the ground a little to give it a bit of attitude (or so I think). Thanks for the encouragement - keep watching for more updates - hoping to mock up the forward controlls in a week or so.

Thanks. It's mostly a survivor with a little sprucing up and NOS parts here and there. The paint looks better in the pictures than it actually is, but it's not bad for 30 years old...
Anyway, I don't want to goof up your thread with my pictures. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Latest mods:-)
Today I mocked up the handlebar set up (will probably go with red coke bottle grips for final assembly).
I removed the original foot pegs and forward highway pegs and mocked up my new forward controls. They look pretty god I think. Had a few problems with final fit but I have it close enough now that I will wait until final assembly before fine tuning the fit.
The headlight is mocked up in the rough position I want - I love the look of a headlight light way out front like an old style locomotive engine LOL
The seat I ordered fro BirdMans should be here in two weeks and I will figure out how I want to solid mount the seat to the frame.
I will order my bates style bullet turn signals today and hopefully have them for when I mock up my seat.
Pretty soon all the new parts will be on her and mocked up for fit and it will be time to start painting the wheels red and the frame gloss black:-) stay tuned. Pictures coming shortly.
