Assuming the machine is mechanically sound, anyone know what the average consumption rate of 60wt oil should be expected per 1k highway miles when temp outside is 90-100+ degrees fahrenheit?

 

Seems to vary a lot. Maybe we will get a good idea if lots of guys respond to this thread. I used to use about 1 qt for about 2000 miles on my 1980. With my 1978 i will be finding out this year as it is now finally, after 2,1/2 years, up and running well.

Assuming no leaks, eh.

 

my late 84 uses none at all, weeps a little not enough to have to add, i ride about 4000 average a year, oil changes vary, try to do it every 1500 miles or so

Interesting. I was under the impression that after 1k miles you'd of burned through about half a quart..?
