Default Crank

Hi everyone out there , just got my first Harley, an '85 Ironhead . Bought itas having a blown engine but found therear inlet tappet was finger tight and had right backed off . Rest of the engine looks Ok , new pistons , valves etc but therods have 0.072" end float on the crank pin .My manual says 0.005 - 0.025 with a service wear limit of 0.030.I dont want to strip the motor if I dont have to so the question is , is0.072 float really asking for disaster ?

Default RE: Crank

Fix it now, or fix it, and possibly a lot of other stuff that it takes out, later. You're already well over double the slop allowed, and it shirley ain't gonna get better!
