Default tranny oil early 84

I just changed the oil in the tranny and not much came out and there is no leaks as far I can see The manual says 24 oz .Anybody ever have this problem. I put oil back into roughly 24 give or take alittle untill she came out Thanks

24 oz or until it drips out of the oil level hole with the bike level is correct.



I always use the HD formula+ product. If not much came out and none leaked out then it was not set up correctly the last time, i guess.

To check for leaks put 1 oz of ordinary red food coloring in with the oil. It will be easy to see. Does no harm.

Iron does the front sprocket have a seal that does connect to the tranny that can leak out? I did check my records from last year and did put approx 24oz and put the bike straight up

On earlier models there is an oil transfer valve that can leak oil from the engine into the primary. It is also possible for oil to leak into the primary from a bad seal on the front engine sprocket [not the front transmission sprocket]. But there is no way for primary oil to leak to another part of the engine. So this is a mystery.

BTW, i am not expert on these leaks etc. My explanation may not be technically accurate but i believe that my conclusion is. See what others may say.
