I do not get what you mean by not have A transfer hole in the lower part of my access cover. There is a tr77 i believe] that is internal to the enginehole in the lower part

This is what is ued to get the correct level. The correct level is either 1.5 pints [24 fl oz] or until it seeps from this hole with the bike level.

Best to post a pic of your cover. Upload it to PhotoBucket, then Copy/Paste the IMG code [not the HTML code] from there to your post here.
My 75 xlh casting number is also 34846 54a, i bought a 73 ironhead trannsmission with casting numbers 34845 54a, will this transmission fit my 75

Are you talking about will the whole transmission fit?
Or just the primary cover?

Primary cover should swap over ok.
So should the whole transmission too, but the 75 had the mickey-mouse crossover linkage for left foot shift, but that is all external to the gear box. So I guess the shifter shaft on the 75 tranny was a little shorter for that linkage.

77 and onward had different primary cover with the gear shift coming straight out the primary cover, like in IronMick's picture above.

My bike is titled as a 75, But it does not have the cross over, it's the real right side shift

My guess is that a previous owner converted it from left side shift with the crossover to right side shift. This is a popular conversion.

Also PLEASE post all you stuff on this topic in one thread only.

Default 75 xlh

Sorry, but I'm new to this.
My primary does not have anything coming out on the left side.
No shifter, only the brake peddle after the primary cover. My shifter comes out the right side cover, just before the kickstart, no crossover.
The 73 transmission fit perfect. I will also try to see how this sight works as far as posting. Thanks IronMike

I like using picasaweb for hosting pic's. Much easier than PhotoBucket.

So a pre-76 primary cover should fit on ok.

And actually, so will a 77 and onwards, you would just need to put a couple bolts in the footpeg and gear shift holes in the cover.
