Default Flathead topend on a iron head bottom

I need information about how to turn a early sportster into a flat head. Any opinions, links or other information would be appreciated.

Maybe run it by the flathead & shovelhead guys in the classic section.

Will a KH top end fit on old Sportster cases? I'm guessing that the rods would probably have to be changed, too, if it would even work at all.

i have seen the shovel conversion done, very expensive for no real gain in performance, i cant really seen anything to be gained by goin to a kh? as far as i know the biggest was only a 883cc,why not look for a project kh to tinker with?

Default Iron Shovel.

I found the particular writeup on the shovel ironhead, i was mistaken in that there where mating of engine parts, it was an ironhead frame that got finished using mostly shovelhead parts, like fenders, tank and some other things.

Not knowing i was initially confused by the shovelhead looking so much like the ironhead, am sure that after looks everything changes.

28 in houston tonight, if we are going to put up with this cold crap from now on am moving up north to lower taxes. LOL... HA HA.

I have seen ironhead bottom ends with shovel and pan top ends. I know Trock ( not sure if they are still open based in Chi-town I think ) made some parts for at least the shovel conversion. It would look badass with the flathead topend good luck with it
