My other thought is that, from time to time, i have heard some guys refer to o-ring chains as oil-less chains, in the sense that they do not need to be lub'ed. I have never seen any reason to believe this so i always lube my o-ring chains. Any comments on this?

I take mine off, soak it in oil then hang it over the fence but I'm reading that is the old way...sooo....I don't know the new way of thinking. But I bet it is the same way of thinking that got us Harleys called Twinkies!!!

Mick, the advent of "better" oring chains has convinced some that external lube is no longer required, and that somehow metal will rub on metal without wear.
Just listen to 9 out of 10 bikes that go past.
That horrible noise is the dry, ill adjusted chain.
