Default few pics of rebuild

hi ya
thought i would post a few pics of the bike now its nearly back together i got loads of pics of the engine build but i can only upload 5 pics at a time so will post some more pictures soon,she has had a second hand 900 crank , new pinion shaft + bearing ,new sprocket shaft + bearings , s&s conrods new little end bush's + big end bearings, second hand barrels rebored to +.50 new pistons + rings, valves reseated, new cam bushings + torrington bearings, oil pump main shaft + bushings, gearbox trap door bearing , clutch hub bearing.theres more but cant think of em right now, havnt heard her run yet but gettin very close,time permitting should get her fired up next week, its been a long wait and am lookin forward to getting out on her when the better weather arrives, roll on spring!!!

Tell us about the frame. What year is the engine - looks like 79 or newer from the cam cover.

hi ya mick
your right its a 79 xlch although theres bits from alot of different years on it, the frames a one off dont know who manufactured it i bought it as a bit of a basket case, rode it round for a while then had some probs with it jumping out of first gear so took it off the road rebuilt the gearbox and did some mods to the frame had it powder coated, sprayed the tank etc, put it back on the road and managed to clock up about 700 miles before the big end totally destroyed itself so it was out with the engine again and have now replaced everything that looked even slightly dodgey, so hope to clock up many 1000's of miles with her now, been having withdrawal symptoms really miss ridin my old ironhead

5 ft of snow on my front lawn, ice in the driveway, slush all over the roads. I might go out into the shop and crank 'er up just to hear the music.
