Use a pour in liner if it dosnt have one in it to keep it from rusting.
Yes, but do not use the Kreme product on old, rusty tanks. Use either POR or RedKote. There have been many comments over the years about the Kreme product peeling off and creating havoc with the fuel system.
i like the hell out of that fairing in your sig. what's it called and where can I get one?
Thanks. It's an old Tracy "Black Rain" fairing (named after the Michael Douglas movie) that was made for narrow glide front ends. I found it on eBay a couple years ago, modded it a little, and had it painted. The company went out of business years ago, so finding one today is a crap shoot.
Almost strange how much of HUGE difference one extra gallon of gas would make! At least in my situation. About 70 miles into town for me so I always gotta stop again for gas as soon as I get there and by the time I'm done in town gotta fill up again before I head home..
I run a King Peanut right now but will be putting the original Peanut back on for aesthetic reasons. With a Pingle petcock the King hits reserve after using about 1.9 gallons of gas. That would just about suck the old Peanut dry, and I still have a little more than a gallon in reserve with the King. I just don't like the fatness of the tank compared to the sleek little Peanut's lines, and since it's not my everyday ride anymore I can deal with the limited range. That's why they called it a bar hopper!
I am not even sure what the tank in my pic came off of, or how many gallons it holds, but it wasn't very hard to mod it to fit my 66 XLCH ( I bought it at a swap meet). I lifted the front end about 2" and drilled and tapped a hole staight down through the frame for the back bolt. The Petcock is on the the left hand side and runs close to the rear rocker box. If you like this fit, then maybe someone on here could tell you where to get one.
