Ironhead Cafe'
I'm taking the XLX in a cafe' direction. Finally got the old Tracy "Black Rain" fairing painted, and it looks pretty good with the original tank (which I've kept all these years). I'm looking for an old Corbin Gunfighter seat to complete the look, and I'm toying with the idea of putting the stock black exhaust back on. It needs a sandblast and repaint, though, so it may be a while before I get to doing that.
Here are a few hurried pics I took last week:
Mods: Stock XLH headers (chrome instead of black) with Dyno-Power slip ons, Barnett clutch, 23/49 sprockets, additional crankcase breather, drilled front discs, Kevlar brake pads, Honda GB500 fork boots, SE fork brace, Progressive fork springs, Ness Cafe' front fender, FXDX shocks, sport seat, Screamin' Eagle air cleaner, ported intake, Andrews accelerator pump, SE coil & plug wires, Lockhart oil cooler. Rear fender from an Evo - shortened, recontoured and repainted, tank from a 1988 1200, NOS tach kit, H-4 headlight, Night Rod Special handlebars.

Thanks for the compliments. A lot of lookers on this thread, but not many responders....I guess my bike's too wierd for the majority of Sportster riders...
I'm thinking more black, too - the stock XLX exhaust, remove the chrome battery cover, paint the chain guard black, maybe put the dull silver XLX rear fender struts back on, find a carbon fiber air cleaner...

The rear end is raised for better handling and more lean angle. Here's the fairing mocked-up last year, with short shocks on the rear. I think the longer FXDX shocks look better with the fairing, myself...
I've checked out your ride earlier - a true classic! I'll probably leave a little bright stuff on mine (the stuff that was originally chrome or silver), to keep the XLX heritage going.
