Default Rocker Box Leak

I have a leak on the rear rocker box on the right side of the box(not the side with the red nuts). Since its going to be getting cold here in Chi-Town I figured its time to fix it. I would like to re-use the rockers and the shafts. Any tips or suggestions ? The motor will be out of the frame, for paint.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is the leak thru the gasket between the rocker cover and the cylinder head? Or is it from around the rocker arm end screw?

Looks like its comimg from the end screw. When the bike is running I can see a stream of oil coming from that area.

Remove the screw and install a new O ring on it, then reinstall the screw. Each of those screws has one O ring on it. Most likely the O ring is what is causing the leaking.

To remove the screw........ Use a hand held impact driver and a large hammer. You will never get the screw out using a large screw driver, so use the impact from the git-go.

Ok thanks I have the allen head type. Its the o ring that's sits in the groove in the rocker box? Do you have a size you could provide? So maybe I can fix this problem without taking the rocker box any further apart? That would be cool! I always hate to take it apart when its running so good!

Thanks

By the size, you must be referring to the size of the O ring. I have no idea. All I can tell you there is get them from a dealer or J&P Cycle. Item #7 in the pic is the screw and O ring.

The allen head needed is a 5/16 inch. Use the impact tool to remove the screw. You remove the screw without having to take anything else apart.

I'm not sure who you directed this question to.
If it was to me regarding removing the screw, then the answer is no.
It makes no difference if the valve is open or closed when removing the screw(s).

Do not over tighten ! that O-ring is easy to broke.
