thanx for the pics so far. most of what I can see is that frame sits fairly level but I guess since I am running a two over front end and a 21 tire that would have alot to do with it. I know that the stock was a 19. I just hope that the angle will not affect the oiling, since that was brought up. I guess Ill just have to take my chances.

Nice 1980 XLS. I have that same tank. Got it on eBay a couple of years ago. That color was available i think only in that one year. It is the best looking larger Sportster tank. Are those the original 2" over Roadster Forks?

yeah thats my 30 year old scooter and 11 year old daughter. i'm pretty sure they are the original forks and WG tripples

 

Just for your info......... The 21 inch tire is almost, if not exactly, the same diameter outside as the 19 inch tire. And then you have to split any difference by 2 if you are talking about how much farther off the ground is the axle. Not much difference there.

The reason being the 21 is most likely a 3.00 X 21 and the 19 is surely a 3.25 X 19. These tires have the same OD (approx).
The 'wall section' on a 21 is not as great as that of a 19.

Hey Droff. Here are some pics of mine with struts...then with the bolt on hardtail. I also have a wideglide front end. I am not sure what it is off of though.

when I bought it: Notice the forks...way to long. The bike sat extremely uneven. And as pinion mentioned before my front jug had extreme scoring when I took it apart.

thanx for all the info and for the new pics. Unfortunatly my ride is on hold for a little while since I lost my job. Thankfully I have not had to sell it though. Updates will come along as I get back in the grove and get a chance to start up again.

 

you could get a set of raked trees for it that would drop the front down an level the frame back down due to the longer fork tubes

 

stay away from the raked trees they REALLY make handling bad really unstable at higher speeds much better to find a set of fork tubes

 

Anyone ever put a springer on one of these bad boys? I think that would be pretty sweet. Would this have a negative effect on stability at speed?
