OK, just to make sure we are on the same page.........
With both plugs removed, put the plug wires on the plugs and lay the metal base of both plugs on the heads making a good ground. Clamp each plug if you have to, using a paper clamp or some similar thing.
Crank it over with the switch on........
Does only the rear plug fire, or do both fire?
If only the rear (or only the front) is firing, then go back to the points and measure both gaps when the two ignition cams come under the foot of the points. Both gaps should be .018 and within .004 gap of each other.
What do you find after checking that?
