Default single wire generater

I have been haveing some chargeing issuses with my 71 so was about to do the volt checks that I have seen on the forum. when I noticed that the generater has only one wire and what I have read on the forum I think it is a after market one.the one wire goes to the + side of battery with a fuse before battery,I have checked fuse and it looks ok.so do I go ahead with voltage check like any standered generater or go another route ? thanks once again

I quess that your generator has internal voltage regulator and it has only one wire which sould go to battery, fuse is good to have there.
Voltmeter should read 13.8-14.1 Volts @ 2000rpm never over 14.2 volts.
