Bulbs are a single filiment 12 volt. Same as stock. Stock guys work fine so its obviously something with them and the flasher.
I have been poking around for some type of booster or stabalizer but I honestly don't know what to look for when dealing with this old system.
As someone said its such a basic scheme I feel I'm missing something.
They really are clean looking and I would like to get them working and lose the stock stuff from the bars. If not there is always EBAY.
Thanks for all your efforts.

I use a heavy duty flasher since I changed to some small bullet lights on the front of my Sloptail. They wouldn't flash with the stock unit; going to the heavy duty unit cured the problem. The flasher has been in since about 2002.

The flasher and lights act as an R-C timing circuit. The amount of resistance in the lamps and the capacitance in the flasher determine the flash rate, and often whether the things will flash at all.

Try a heavy duty flasher and see what happens. Might cure it, and shouldn't hurt it.

When you go and buy a automotive flasher relay take some rubber cement and seal relays cover and terminals. So that humid don't penetrate into relay and destroy it within month :-)

No,
Strickly using as turn signal.
As I said remove the hot lead from the stock light that works as it should, and they only glow faintly. Bypass flasher and run to battery and they light up fine.

Update...
I installed the Heavy Duty flasher and I am getting there. They will light but will not flash. Press and release the signal button to use them as directionals, in stead of just holding the button in.
I actually prefer it this way and it keeps me legal.
Any thoughts?

There is something that is not right. Using the heavy duty flasher does not fix the problem. What i have heard in the past is that you do not need and should not use a heavy duty flasher. I think you still need to determine what is the actual problem and fix it.

I agree completely. Just don't know what else to check. Stock system works fine until I introduce these lights. The heavy duty flasher did increase the juice going to them as they now light up instead of glowing dimly. I don't think they are lighting fully but much more than with the stock flasher.
I think now I am just being stubborn because I can't figure it out. As I said if I can't get working properly they will have to go.
Thanks,
Bucaman
