just got all oil lines hooked up on my 1976 sportster ironhead... but dont know what kind of oil is best for it. Any suggestions?

 

i use valvoline racing straight 50 w

 

I use petroleum oil made for Harleys. Straight 50wt or 60wt in the summer and 20w50 in the winter.

 

I use HD 360 20W-50 year round. I guess I could use 60wt in the summer, but I think 20W-50 is good enough.

 

Valvoline straight 50W all year long. If you live in a very hot/humid area during the summer then run 60W during the summer and switch back to 50W during winter.

 

In AZ I would use 60 wt motorcycle oil Iron heads (cast iron ) I used to run 70 wt on my knuckle in SE Penna
