Help. Gas in oil tank?
RE: 1976 Sportster, 1000
I'm new to this forum, so bear with me.
I changed the oil the other day, then took the bike for a short ride. I checked the oil level when I got back home and there was more oil in the tank than before the ride - and smells a little on the gas side.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?? I need all the help I can get.
Thanks

How much more oil than before? \\; Some of the oil remains in the crankcase when the motor is off, so that could explain that. \\; The gas smell, hotrod351 is probably right about. \\; Good indication that your rings are wearing or have worn. \\; Do you blow blue smoke from the exhaust when the motor starts and you give it gas?  \\;
