Default Starter Issue on my 78

My starter is sparking on my 78. I dont see the leads touching anything to cause it to ground. I looks like it is actually sparking between the starter case and the end cap of the starter. ( if that makes sense to anyone but me)I have it wired from the batt to the starter selniod and then to the starter. It also really struggles to turn the bike over, almost like the batt. is dead but it has a full charge so is it just time for a new one? I have built this bike myself like most of you guys on a budget, so the wiring is very basic. There is a starter relay that mounted under the batt. tray that Ididnt use could this be part of issue?

Thanks
T-Ron

Default RE: Starter Issue on my 78

All I can offer is to suggest to take it off and apart and check for wear on the armeture, brushes, etc.
