Default Electric Starter

Knees are shot, what’s the cost of putting starter on 1974 XLCH.

It will not be cheap. It is not just the starter motor there is a whole list of parts. I do not have a link handy but many guys have done this over the years and the list should be findable with Google. All the best to you on this project

It would be a lot cheaper to go over everything to make it a one-kick bike.

Did that year come with an electric starter as an option?

Basically ya want to convert an XLCH to an XLH. Look up CAS4 Electric Start Conversion Kits. Looks like $680 to $735. However, not all the parts needed are it the Kit. Ya still need and oil tank, battery, battery cover and ring gear.

True, I was just thinking there are different degrees of shot, just in case that was an option. He really has to want that electric start for what it's going to cost.

I bought a starter/solenoid/gear/housing assembly on ebay for under $175, the battery tray w. relay bracket for $75 and a chrome oil tank for $200, all including shipping. I'm sure I'll need more parts here and there but as said above, they are stock XLH parts. The parts manual will give you part numbers to search with.
