If oiltank isn't geting any warm you got problems, it warms ( depending on oil) up to 140-180º F
I rode last weekend about 300 miles and after 5-10 miles oiltank is so hot that you don't want to touch it :-)
Exhaust primary is routed very near oiltank, but it shoudn't actually touch it. Check that it's correctly in place, no gap between cylinderhead exhaust insert and exhaustpipe. You also need to check that those rubber grommets between oiltank+batterybase and frame are ok.

The exhaust and the oil tank are bothafter market and they deffinatly do touch. Its good to know that your oil tank gets that hot... I feel better already... Gormmets are good and she runs like a top...
I got my break light and front break assembly in today so I'll pick them up and install them this evening. I can hardly wait!
