About the pipes. There are no baffles in them and the carb was jetted for the lack of back-pressure. Minor adjustments, but definately adjusted nevertheless. The tips are actually originally from a set of Poul Yaffe X pipes I had left over from a Big Twin build I did some years ago. They laid in a box for years and I finally had the idea to weld them to the shorty pipes piniongear sent me that are on the bike now. The welds were obviously rough, so I thought it best to just wrap them and that's what you see now. As far as how loud it is, I can tell you that it rumbbles the hell out of the house when I start it in the garage (it's connected to the house). OUt on the road there's no question I'm next to you when I give it some gas. At idle is pretty tame, but all in all she's a mean son-of-a-gun.

Really nice work. A perfect example of less is more.I like the fact that you also stuck with the drum brakes. They look classic. One question, why the yellow plug wires?

Peekaboobob....
Thanks for the great compliment. In answer to your question about the wires....they will soon go to just plain black or maybe blue to match the pinstriping? I will more than likely stick to black. The yellow ones came with the basket case and is one item that I just never replaced.
Since these photos I also replaced the grips and the shifter lever to plain black and the bike really looks minimal and sleeker with just those fine changes, believe it or not. The wires are the next to go......
Take care

That is one beautiful bike! What are your plans for the Corvair in the background?

mojo2go....
Thanks for the compliment.
As for the Corvair, I am thinking of keeping the interior black, with exception to the metal dash which I am thinking body color. That leads me to the body color. Ther is a company that has produced a semi-gloss single stage finish available in roughly 55 colors to use for rat rods. I am thinking the seafoam green metallic (famous in the late 60's on many Chevy's) with a semi-gloss silver roof. The dash of course will be the seafoam color......wait, something's missing. Oh yeah, the old school pinstriping around the headlamp tops, decklid sections and the dashboard.
Any thoughts?.......
