RE: ECM access denied HELP!
Did you turn the switch on the handlebars to RUN?
And first thing you should do to make sure the SERT is communicating with the ECM is press "GET ECM INFO".......if this happens, then you can rule out the other stuff, like choosingthe right COM PORT, Switch on, cables hooked up correctly.....yada...yada.
Make sure you have a constant power supply to your laptop too(not just "chancing it" on battery power....plug the **** in!), any SNAFU during a flash could be a trip to the dealership on a trailer to have the ECM reconfig'd.[&:]

RE: ECM access denied HELP!
I got the ECM info so it looks like it did communicate that to the PC buts thats it.
Connection does not seem to be the problem and bike does run so I did not reprogram anything.
It is only when I try to program I get the access denied thing. Yes the run switch is set to on.

RE: ECM access denied HELP!
Does your message say, "requesting contol of J1850 serial data" and then say " unable to install bootloader"? I've seen this a few times and the issue is getting your computer to communicate properly with the ECM. Are you using a 9 pin connection or a USB adapter. If you are using an adapter it is probably the culprit. The cheaper ones will usually not be sufficient in data transfer rates. A USBG-232 USB adapter from USB Gear should solve your problem if everything else is configured correctly.
