Turn off PC, Bike and Re-Boot everything....

Ensure that PC is plugged into wall outlet....

Open Tuning Mode, Your saved file (Hopefully you have done your CLB Changes)...

Confirm Com Port.....

Turn on Ignition, Turn on Run Switch.....

Count to twenty....

Get info from ECM.....

Count to 10....

Program ECM.....

Did you buy this as a BRAND NEW, NEVER OPENED unit, or was the little brown box with orange security tape opened????

Sounds like you are using a unit that is already married....

I may have missed something, as my flashes went without a hiccup and I'm kinda computer saavy, but if the SERT and ECM are communicating when you press GET ECM INFO, and you are sure your hardware isOK, and the software needed for the flash is OK and up to date, including and up to date operating system, and you've hooked all this up correctly, correct map is used....................I'm at a loss. Defunct cable?

You are using a 32107-01(?) SERT correct?

Try this. Unplug your 9 pin at your computer. Reboot your computer. Leave cables and ALDL adapter hooked up to bike. After computer reboot. Plug 9 pin back into your computer. Turn on ign switch and run switch. Open tuning mode, establish com by "Get ECM info" and try to download. Following this procedure will also sometimes "fix" the com issue.

What make and modellap top? I've seen this a hundred times with non SERT software when using"IBM compatible PCs". No reason it couldn'thappen with SERT. The softwaremaywork great with 99.9% oflaptops, but that .1% could be hooked up to your bike right now.Since swapping bikesis not an option, can youborrow a different laptop?

ORIGINAL: pg

I follow all the instructions, I hope, but when I press program ECM with my sert software on my 2007 Fatboy
the program goes to 20% in the progress bar then starte"ECM access Denied".
Clues anyone?

Paul
Hi Paul,

You didn't mention the OS you have installed on your PC. I had the exact same problem.... drove me nuts because I had already flashed the ecm, then got the same error. Turns out it was my OS. Vista was the culprit. The first time I flashed it, i was usinga Win2000 OS laptop. Plugged that one back in and all was fine.

The other thing you may run into... If you use a USB to serial adapter, then plug a different device into the USB port it will sometimes change the port config. Might be something to check.

Hope this helps...

Thanks to all, I got it to work. You would have thought I won the lotto when it did.
Be ware to all.. It was Vista as the problem.
Hooked up an old PC with XP and no problem.
Thanks
Paul
